Blog Post #13

I think that Wolfram Alpha is a wonderful search engine. I searched the population of the following countries: United States, China and India. It really took me by surprise that the United States was ranked the third in the largest countries with 309 million people, India second with 1.2 billion people and China ranked first with 1.37 billion people. I think that Wolfram Alpha is a much better site to use, because it’s quicker. Wolfram Alpha is a great to use in a classroom, and I must say that it’s a site that I’ll be using when I become a teacher.

Yay me!!! In blog post ten article Don’t Let Them Take the Pencils Home, I was one of the students who got the metaphor. A metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable. Metaphors are mostly used to be creative or funny; it’s not to be taking seriously. Here are some examples of some metaphors.

1. As bright as day

2. As bright as the sun

3. As busy as a beaver

4. As busy as a bee

5. As busy as a cat on a hot tin roof

Watch the YouTube video on the top 10 qualities of a good teacher. After watching the video write a short summary about what you learned and if you agree or disagree with what has been said during video.

I think that this is a great video! In this video Mr. G talks about the top ten qualities of a good teacher. I must say that I totally agree with each and every one of his tips that he talked about in his video. This is a great video to watch if you plan to become a successful teacher. When I get my classroom I will remember all the helpful tips that Mr. G talked about during this video, and hopefully you will do the same when you become a teacher. Well, I hope everyone enjoyed this video as much as I did!

I really enjoyed visiting Mrs. Yollis’s Class Blog. Mrs. Yollis has a lot of different links that you can visit located at the top of her blog. By looking at her blog you can tell that she really has a great interest in blogging. She has a lot of information for students, parents and future teachers. One of the sections that I enjoyed the most would have to be Learn How to Shoot Great Images. This section was created by some of her students. In the video they demonstrate the do’s and don’ts when using a camera. Mrs. Yollis really has a lot of interesting things on her blog that are very beneficial. I must say that I really enjoyed my time that I spent visiting her blog.

Ms. Cassidy First Grade Class

I really enjoyed watching this video! I love how all the children were interested in the technology and were also very skilled on how to operate it as well. When I become a teacher I’m going to teach my students all about blogs, Wikis, videos, Skype and anything else that’s helpful to my students. I also like how Mrs. Cassidy helps keep the students safe from the bad stuff. She tells them some of the things that you shouldn’t do to keep yourself safe while surfing the web such as: not posting any pictures of yourself and not to post any personal information. These are some very important tips that I plan on sharing with my students. I must say that I too agree with Mrs. Cassidy about teachers should be technologically literate. The reason I have to agree with her is simply because how can you teach others how to operate technology if you are not too sure on how to use it correctly? I must admit that I’m not the best when it comes to technology but I’m willing to learn more so that I can teach it to my fellow students in the future.

Skpe Interview

This interview is between Dr. Strange and Ms. Cassidy. In this interview they talk about the different types of technology that she uses in her classroom. She also talks about how she gets support from her parents and other teachers. Ms. Cassidy is very into technology in her classroom. In her class her students are using blogs, and they have blogging buddies. This interview really gets you excited about using technology in a classroom. I love hearing about students been excited about learning something new.

Angalo is one of the student’s blog that I was assigned to comment on. On Anglo blog he had a vodcast explaining how to be a Rugby player. In his vodcast he list many different way that could help you be a great Rugby player. One way is by eating your veggies! I really enjoyed watching Angalo vodcast, it was very informing on how to become a successful Rugby player. I think that it’s very exciting to be able to make your own vodcast that age. At the end of the comment I told him how I really enjoyed his vodcast and I look forward to visiting his blog again in the future.

Abby was from Pt. England School in Auckland, New Zealand. In Abby blog she talked about important is to keep your passwords safe at all time. Abby also shared with us about the time a girl name Kayla shared her password for her Facebook. She gave the password to one of her friends. Her friend logged onto her account and was bullying other people. The people that were being bullied told on Kayla, even though she wasn’t the one doing the bulling she was blamed because it was her page. I really enjoyed reading Abby blog post. I must say that I too agree with her about how important it is to keep your password safe because you can get in very serious trouble if something like this was to happen to you. At the end I told Abby how much I enjoyed reading her blog and I look forwarded to reading more.

Rita is from Pt. England School year six. In Rita blog post she talked about her most amazing opportunity to visit the beautiful island of Samoa. Rita talked about how she was terrified of swimming in the water with the turtles. She also mentioned how she felt like a big wuss because she was younger than her. After a while her auntie Sela pigi banked her because she was too afraid to swim alone. I commented on Rita blog about how her vacation sounded like tons of fun. I also told her that I also would’ve been scared to swim in the water with the turtles swimming around. I mentioned at the end how I enjoyed reading her blog and that I look forward to reading more.
